How to Make Your Foam Mattress Round (or Any Other Shape)

2019/11/14
In this Instructable I will show you how I made my foam mattress from one side and have the bracket underneath it match the mattress.
I don\'t know how to modify the normal bed frame to match the custom mattress, my bed frame comes from the lifting tray at the construction site.
My mattress is made of foam, but I guess the same, you can also modify the mattress made of other materials with a little imagination.
I chose a semi-circular shape as it works best for my living room/bedroom but as you will see you can do whatever shape you like and the sky is the limit! ! :)
I include instructions on how to modify the lift tray, which of course is optional.
I highly recommend some forms of entertainment (
Laptop with movies, TV, etc)
In the sewing stage, otherwise it will be very boring.
With entertainment, all you need to do is have a fun afternoon. Materials:-
Foam mattress-
Sewing line matching mattress color-
Lifting tray for bed standing (optional)Tools:-
Scissors or sharp knivesmarker-
Big sharp knife(optional)
Cutter (
If your knife is not sharp enough-sewing needle-(optional)jigsaw (
Modify the tray-(optional)
Hammer, screwdriver or drill, wooden screw (
Modify the tray-(optional)
Laptop or other entertainment equipment (
To prevent you from feeling very boring during sewing)
There are three parts to the mattress cover.
Top fabric, bottom fabric (
They are the same)
And stripes for both sides of the fabric.
The latter bypassed the mattress and connected to the top and bottom through two thin cotton stripes.
Use scissors or small sharp knives to carefully remove the line connecting the small cotton strips to the top and middle parts of the lid.
Repeat the thin cotton strip connecting the middle and bottom of the cover.
All you need to do is remove this at the mattress location you are going to modify.
Pull the fabric out of the area to be modified.
Draw the shape of the mattress you want with a marker pen.
Sharpen the knife if necessary and carefully cut the mattress in the desired shape.
If the knife is sharp enough, cut the foam mattress like butter! (
Optional: lift tray: draw the new shape of the mattress on the tray using markers.
Cut wood properly using jigsaw puzzles.
Properly add the required legs to the cutting tray using screws, drill bits or hammers and screwdrivers (
It depends on the shape you choose).
You will notice that my tray has been slightly modified (
Using drill bits, puzzles and wood screws).
There is no need to explain this, I just urgently need to add some height to the bed. )
Cut the top and bottom of the mattress cover in a new shape, make sure to leave at least centimeters (
How much less! ).
Then prepare your optional Entertainment, place the cotton strip on the side of the mattress and on the edge of the middle part, and sew it up (
The picture explains this better
Please note that I took a sewing photo after the sewing procedure was completed, sorry).
Always ensure that the sides and middle parts of the mattress cover are straight and tight enough.
If there are too many fabrics on the edges, either trim them or fold them (
Towards the bubble! ). When (
After choosing a few films)
You reach the finish line, cut off the excess fabric from the middle, and sew them together.
That\'s it, your foam mattress is now custom made and no one has the same mattress! ! Sweet dreams :)
