How to maintain coconut palm mattress

1. Reducing the indoor relative humidity and controlling the relative humidity below 50% is the most common method to control the level of mites and their allergens. Controlling humidity is easier than controlling temperature. Tests have shown that under 40% or 50% relative humidity continuously, even when the temperature is 25~34°C, adult mites will die from dehydration within 5~11 days. In mountainous countries or the northern parts of the Middle East, mites and mite allergens are rarely present in these dry areas.

It is recommended to use high-performance dehumidifiers and air conditioners indoors to reduce the relative humidity and the total amount of mites, which is both practical and effective. Frequent cleaning or replacement of the dust cover or net of the air conditioner to reduce the breeding of dust mites. 2. Use packing covers: Packing mattresses and pillows with special anti-mite materials is an effective way to reduce exposure to dust mites and their allergens. This method is recommended for allergy sufferers, and the packaging material consists of plastic, breathable material, very fine fabric fibers or non-woven synthetic materials.

The pore size of the fabric is very important when shopping for pillow and mattress wrap. The ideal material should be a comfortable, breathable fabric that is vapor-permeable and blocks the passage of mites and mite allergens. The width of larvae is generally greater than 50 microns, so fabrics less than or equal to 20 microns will prevent the passage of all mites.

At present, there are anti-dust mite bed covers, pillow cases and other products for sale. High-quality feather pillows, feather quilts or down jackets can prevent dust mites from entering and breeding in them due to the dense fabric covered on their surfaces (they cannot eat food such as human dander). 3. Cleaning, drying and dry cleaning of bedding: Seat covers, pillowcases, blankets, mattress covers, etc. are washed with hot water equal to or higher than 55°C once a week to kill mites and remove most mite allergens.

Washing with warm or cold water will not kill most mites, but it will remove most allergens because most allergens are water-soluble. Drying clothes with a dryer should be higher than 55 ℃, more than 10 minutes can kill all the mites. Daily shampooing is also a great way to control dust mite allergens.

4. Carpets, curtains and soft household furnishings should be replaced and cleaned frequently: Carpets, curtains and home upholstery fabrics accumulate debris and keep damp, providing an ideal habitat for mites to breed. In wet areas, carpets, window (cloth) curtains or blackout curtains should not be used, and blinds should be replaced. Home upholstery fabrics should be replaced with vinyl or leather pads, and furniture can be made of wood.

5. Carpet vacuuming: If the family is unwilling or financially unable to change the carpet, it should be vacuumed once a week and the vacuum cleaner bag should be changed frequently. Regular vacuuming removes surface mites and allergens, but does not significantly reduce the number of live mites or remove deeply buried allergens. 6. Freeze soft toys and small items: Freezing soft toys and small items (such as pillows and special clothing) at -17°C~-20°C for at least 24 hours is an effective way to kill mites on these items.

After freezing in the refrigerator at home, these items can be washed to remove dead mites and allergens. Leaving mattresses and pillows outside for 24 hours during cold winter months can also kill mites. 7. Air cleaning/filtering: The main components of house dust are mites.

Mite allergens are mainly associated with dust particles larger than 20 μm in diameter. Air movement makes it airborne particles, which can cause allergies when inhaled. When cleaning or filtering the air, be sure to let the indoor air flow and let the dust float, which can play a role in cleaning or filtering.

8. Do not keep pets such as cats and dogs indoors: The body of small animals has suitable temperature and humidity, and a large amount of dander is also a rich food source for dust mites, so small animals breed a large number of mites on their bodies, which can also be carried indoors Everywhere, everywhere. 9. Chemical reagents: The results of the chemical reagents used to remove mites and their allergens are not very satisfactory, and the active ingredients must be directly delivered to the place where the mites live to be effective. Mainly include: benzyl benzoate, disodium octaborate tetrahydrate, thorium reagent, permethrin and denaturant, etc.

The indoor safety of these acaricides needs further research to confirm, and repeated application will lead to the emergence of drug-resistant mites. 10. Dust mite control is a part of the overall treatment of allergic diseases: if patients with perennial allergic rhinitis, asthma or atopic dermatitis are allergic to mites, inhalation therapy and specific desensitization treatment should be used to control indoor mite allergy. Originally, it can be determined according to the degree of the disease, the climatic conditions where the patient lives and the personal living environment.
